Last week I re-watching my Dexter DVDs when I noticed that even with the sometimes dark and violent nature of the character Dexter his wardrobe consists manly of the cooler colours - blues and greens to be specific. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but it's interesting none the less.

Below is a study of Dexter's wardrobe throughout the first season.

Have a look for yourself and see what you think.

Each episode starts with this green stripy number. (Blue=0, Stripes=1)

Episode 1: Dexter

First shirt of the series is both blue and stripy. (Blue=1, Stripes=2)

Lunch with Deb. Another Green number though sadly no stripes. (Blue=1, Stripes=2)

From a distance this seems to be an average creamy coloured shirt, but up close there are many stripes. Some of them even blue. (Blue=2, Stripes=3)

Episode 2: Crocodile

Dressed for court in a lovely blue suit with a blue shirt underneath. (Blue=3, Stripes=3)

Working this time. Still blue and stripy. (Blue=4, Stripes=4)

Playing with Rita and the kids. Close up those stripes are definately blueish. (Blue=5, Stripes=5)

Warmer this time with a creamy coloured shirt. The close up shot once again revealing stripes. (Blue=5, Stripes=6)

Once again the ordinary looking cream shirt is actually covered in blue stripes. (Blue=6, Stripes=7)

Another green shirt in the lab. (Blue=6, Stripes=7)

Episode 3: Popping Cherry

This time at a funeral, the blue suit and shirt make another appearance. (Blue=7, Stripes=7)

More blue stripes. (Blue=8, Stripes=8)

And again the next day. (Blue=9, Stripes=9)

Dancing in the kitchen. (Blue=10, Stripes=9)

Still more casual with a some nice stitchwork on the front. (Blue=11, Stripes=9)

Episode 4: Let's Give the Boy a Hand

A nice walk on the beach. (Blue=12, Stripes=9)

Shopping in a favourite. (Blue=13, Stripes=10)

Another cream looking shirt that is green this time. (Blue=13, Stripes=11)

The next day a similar cream and brown shirt. (Blue=13, Stripes=12)

Finishing the day with the plain green. (Blue=13, Stripes=12)

Episode 5: Love American Style

Starting with the blue again. (Blue=14, Stripes=12)

Before switching straight back to the green. (Blue=14, Stripes=12)

Blue... (Blue=15, Stripes=13)

...And then green. (Blue=15, Stripes=14)

With a blue bookend. (Blue=16, Stripes=14)

Episode 6: Return To Sender

Another cream with the brown stripes. (Blue=16, Stripes=15)

Worried in green. (Blue=16, Stripes=15)

Even more worried in blue. (Blue=17, Stripes=16)

Episode 7: Circle of Friends

Stylish and contrasty. I'm not quite sure why - it's just pretty. (Blue=19, Stripes=17)

Also pretty. (Blue=26, Stripes=23)

Episode 9: Father Knows Best

Another pretty one. Possibly the same from the hotel. (Blue=32, Stripes=28)

Investigating his past. (Blue=34, Stripes=31)

And as a little extra here's the rest of Dexter's wonderful wardrobe. :)

The other day my sister and I were discussing TV shows, and more specifically cult TV shows. We found that our opinions on which shows we felt belonged in the cult category differed greatly.

This begs the question : What defines a cult TV show and how does a tv show attain this cult status?

We couldn't decide so we though we'd open it up to the internet and see if there was any general consensus on the topic. Mini survey under the cut to fill out if you think you can help us out. :)

View Poll: Cult TV Survey

It was the show that arguably kicked off many successful variations of the same in recent years, and there is a notable void of this type of current affairs style comedy leading into 2008.

The writers' strike in the US has highlighted the importance of formats that are home grown, durable and flexible, and rarely do you see a show like GNW where years later you watch and can say that still works. Not to mention the chance to work with Paul and the team at GNW again was just too tempting to pass up." David Mott, Chief Programming Officer, Network Ten.

Paul McDermott said: "The return of Good News Week on TEN. Seriously? It’s going to be like a party at Corey Delaney’s place."

Ted Robinson said: "There’s no place I’d rather be. We’re still the one."

'Team Captains' for the season will be announced in the coming days.

I can't tell you how excited I am about this news. One of my favourite shows ever being resurrected after an 8 year absence. I'm only hoping that this time around Channel 10 recognises the value of the show and doesn't mangle it too much they way they did last time. :)

In celebration I present:

1) Stayin' Alive - Paul McDermott

2) Cold Outside - Paul McDermott, Marcia Hines & Mark Trevorrow

3) Some "Great Debate" manlove from Ross Noble

Enjoy. :D

(include a picture if you want!)

Alphabetical just for fun:

1) Arrested Development
2) Blackpool
3) Bones - Booth
If Bones is the new Moonlighting then Booth is the new David Addison. Cheeky, charming and with a heart of gold provides a perfect foil for the more logical and clinical Bones, and proves that UST can still be done right in the television of today.

4) Boston Legal
5) Buffy - Giles

6) Doctor Who - The Doctor

7) Firefly - Mal
Captain, my captain.

8) Heroes - Nathan Petrelli

9) House - House
He is the show. As a medical drama it's extremely formulaic but House character keeps it interesting through the good times and the bad. It also helps a great deal that he's played to perfection by Hugh Laurie who has forever been one of my favourite actors, right back to his early days of British comedy.

10) Life On Mars - Gene Hunt

11) Moonlighting
12) Red Dwarf - Rimmer
He's the one I always feel the most empathy for. The most interesting and complex character on the show thanks to a fully fleashed out background. Despite not being the main character Rimmer always seems to bring the most emotional depth to the show and most of my favourite episodes always seem to revolve around him (ie Thanks For The Memory, Terrorform, Me2, Quarantine) He just constantly fails at everything while trying so hard to be liked it's hard not to feel sorry for the guy.

13) Top Gear
14) Veronica Mars
15) Wonderfalls

Also after finally having seen Hogfather (and also a British telemovie called Reversals tonight) I can honestly say that Marc Warren is my new favourite British actor (and another reason to finish watching State Of Play :p ).

He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Rangers- Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Detailed Results:

Alignment:
<samp>Lawful Good ----- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (18)
Neutral Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (23)
Chaotic Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (17)
Lawful Neutral -- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (18)
True Neutral ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (23)
Chaotic Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (17)
Lawful Evil ----- XXXXXXXXX (9)
Neutral Evil ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14)
Chaotic Evil ---- XXXXXXXX (8)
</samp>
Law & Chaos:
<samp>Law ----- XXXXXX (6)
Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXX (11)
Chaos --- XXXXX (5)
</samp>
Good & Evil:
<samp>Good ---- XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Neutral - XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Evil ---- XXX (3)
</samp>
Race:
<samp>Human ---- XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13)
Dwarf ---- XXXXXXXX (8)
Elf ------ XXXXXXXXXXXX (12)
Gnome ---- XXXXXX (6)
Halfling - XXXXXXXXXX (10)
Half-Elf - XXXXXXXXXXX (11)
Half-Orc - XXXX (4)
</samp>
Class:
<samp>Barbarian - (-4)
Bard ------ (-4)
Cleric ---- (0)
Druid ----- (0)
Fighter --- (0)
Monk ------ (-27)
Paladin --- (-17)
Ranger ---- XXXXXX (6)
Rogue ----- (0)
Sorcerer -- XX (2)
Wizard ---- XX (2)</samp>

(Some better than others)

A bunch of Life On Mars Wallpapers (1024x768)

What It Means To Be Sam
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/untitled_2d-b.jpg

Test Card Girl
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/untitled_2b-a.jpg

We're The Force - Version 1
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/untitled_5a.jpg

We're The Force - Version 2
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/untitled_4b.jpg

And also one Blackpool banner.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Webboards/untitled_ba.jpg

Ane speaking of Blackpool, much excitment in the house last night when I saw a mini ad on one of our free-to-air networks for the US remake Viva Laughlin.

I can't see any future for the show, other than one where it crashes and burns a few weeks in, but I'll be watching it anyway as an avid fan of the original series.

Now I knew the network had bought the rights and figured they show it at some time due to the 'Hugh Jackman' factor but I never dreamed we'd be seeing it only a week or so after the US premier.

Too excited - actually moreso than being able to see new episodes of Heroes and House without having to wait until next February (more than likely because I knew we were guaranteed to see those ones). Now if only one of the networks would pick up Pushing Daisies I'd be more than over the moon. :D

I love TV folk who are not afraid of the internets and just love to spread the fun around. All props go to the rest of the cast too for playing along with Adrian and then allowing him to post vids of them acting silly.

Check out the rest of his vids as well if you want. Now I have 4 different versions of the same wallpaper and I don't know which to use.

I thought I'd have ago at posting them up here and let public opinion decide for me.

Image links are posted below so check 'em out and poll away. :D

View Poll: #1056721

Version 1 - Woman in Red
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/Experimentb.jpg

Version 2 - Dropping Bullets
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/Experimentc.jpg

Version 3 - Ivanhoe 1
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/Experimentd.jpg

Version 4 - Ivanhoe 2
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/mljac3/Screenshots/Other/Experimente.jpg

Also some rather interesting Firefly mentions spotted this weekend.

This one amuses me because that site was my best friend at University. Interesting to see a story like that make it here at all. I think the station it aired on just bought the story directly from one of the UK news programs as the reporter narrating it had a distinctly English accent. Had a little snippet of Richard on some British talk show talking about the incident which was nice to see. The only gripe I had with the story was that I'm pretty sure the Australian newsreader who introduced the story said the person involved was one Mick Hammond. :S

Also The Sound of Drums = so much awesome it needs watching again - many times in fact. :D.

I absolutely love The Master (and the way John in playing him) and couldn't care less if he was evil or not - I'd still follow hi to the ends of the Universe and back.

It's great to see John playing a much different and sillier character than those he played in Life On Mars and State Of Play. It's more than nice to see him smiling so often - even if it is that evil grin. He could totally have my babies any day he wanted.

Loved the whole Here Come The Drums music montage thingy though I could see it coming from the first time The Master mentioned that the Drums were coming. Nice twist having The Master responsible for playing the song himself.

Can't wait for next week's episode. From what I've heard it only gets better. ^_^

So funny and charming every time I see him interviewed. It's probably because he seems so humble and he has such a wonderful sense of humour – he's never afraid to laugh at himself.

Also of interest to any UKers. Amber Benson (who played Tara on Buffy) will be making some personal appearences in several Forbidden Planet International stores around the UK during the next week or two. I have had the pleasure of meeting her before and she is wonderfully bright and funny. Quite a joy to be around.

Anyone interested can find more details at:
http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/?p=5111

Utopia tonight. Made of awesome!

Loved it, loved it , loved it!

I was squealing just at the sight of the chain hanging out of Yana's pocket. Also loved how once again it was Martha who figured it all out. She really is too good for the Doctor. Can't wait for next week and lots more Simm!Master as the promo strongly suggests (and internets have since forever).

Loved having Jack back and interacting with the Doctor and also Martha. Nice to see the good old fun Jack too and not not the badly written Jack from Torchwood that I just haven't been able to enjoy or even like - as much as I've badly wanted to.

Speaking of Torchwood I personally find it really funny that there was a ton more exposition on Jack and his past - what's happened to him since The Parting Of Ways - in this one episode of Doctor Who then there was in that entire first series of Torchwood?

On a slightly different note it also amuses me that the Firefly DVD boxset is once again at the top of Amazon's bestseller list. This is almost four years after it's original release date and it's outselling the new Heroes box set released only a week or two back. Power to the Browncoats. ^_^

Amazon's bestseller list
