Last week I re-watching my Dexter DVDs when I noticed that even with the sometimes dark and violent nature of the character Dexter his wardrobe consists manly of the cooler colours - blues and greens to be specific. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but it's interesting none the less.
Below is a study of Dexter's wardrobe throughout the first season.
Have a look for yourself and see what you think.

Each episode starts with this green stripy number. (Blue=0, Stripes=1)
Episode 1: Dexter

First shirt of the series is both blue and stripy. (Blue=1, Stripes=2)

Lunch with Deb. Another Green number though sadly no stripes. (Blue=1, Stripes=2)

From a distance this seems to be an average creamy coloured shirt, but up close there are many stripes. Some of them even blue. (Blue=2, Stripes=3)
Episode 2: Crocodile

Dressed for court in a lovely blue suit with a blue shirt underneath. (Blue=3, Stripes=3)

Working this time. Still blue and stripy. (Blue=4, Stripes=4)

Playing with Rita and the kids. Close up those stripes are definately blueish. (Blue=5, Stripes=5)

Warmer this time with a creamy coloured shirt. The close up shot once again revealing stripes. (Blue=5, Stripes=6)

Once again the ordinary looking cream shirt is actually covered in blue stripes. (Blue=6, Stripes=7)

Another green shirt in the lab. (Blue=6, Stripes=7)
Episode 3: Popping Cherry

This time at a funeral, the blue suit and shirt make another appearance. (Blue=7, Stripes=7)

More blue stripes. (Blue=8, Stripes=8)

And again the next day. (Blue=9, Stripes=9)

Dancing in the kitchen. (Blue=10, Stripes=9)

Still more casual with a some nice stitchwork on the front. (Blue=11, Stripes=9)
Episode 4: Let's Give the Boy a Hand

A nice walk on the beach. (Blue=12, Stripes=9)

Shopping in a favourite. (Blue=13, Stripes=10)

Another cream looking shirt that is green this time. (Blue=13, Stripes=11)

The next day a similar cream and brown shirt. (Blue=13, Stripes=12)

Finishing the day with the plain green. (Blue=13, Stripes=12)
Episode 5: Love American Style

Starting with the blue again. (Blue=14, Stripes=12)

Before switching straight back to the green. (Blue=14, Stripes=12)

Blue... (Blue=15, Stripes=13)

...And then green. (Blue=15, Stripes=14)

With a blue bookend. (Blue=16, Stripes=14)
Episode 6: Return To Sender

Another cream with the brown stripes. (Blue=16, Stripes=15)

Worried in green. (Blue=16, Stripes=15)

Even more worried in blue. (Blue=17, Stripes=16)
Episode 7: Circle of Friends

Stylish and contrasty. (Blue=18, Stripes=16)

Possibly my favourite shirt of the series. I'm not quite sure why - it's just pretty. (Blue=19, Stripes=17)

Also pretty. (Blue=20, Stripes=18)

In prison. (Blue=21, Stripes=18)
Episode 8: Shrink Wrap

Crime scene fun. (Blue=22, Stripes=19)

Always eating. (Blue=22, Stripes=20)

A little personal study. (Blue=23, Stripes=20)

Therapy the first time. (Blue=24, Stripes=21)

Frustrated. (Blue=24, Stripes=22)

Progress. (Blue=25, Stripes=23)

Happy, relieved Dexter - a rare thing indeed. (Blue=26, Stripes=23)
Episode 9: Father Knows Best

Another pretty one. (Blue=27, Stripes=24)

Surprise. (Blue=28, Stripes=24)

Bathroom break. (Blue=29, Stripes=24)
Episode 10: Seeing Red

Helping with the kids. (Blue=29, Stripes=24)

Serious face. (Blue=30, Stripes=25)

Green at work and home. (Blue=30, Stripes=26)

Facing his fears. (Blue=31, Stripes=27)
Episode 11: Truth Be Told

In hospital. Possibly the same from the hotel. (Blue=32, Stripes=28)

Investigating his past. (Blue=32, Stripes=29)

Pretty in the park. (Blue=33, Stripes=30)
Episode 12: Born Free

The same shirt from the end of the last episode. (Blue=33, Stripes=30)

Not ok. (Blue=34, Stripes=31)
And as a little extra here's the rest of Dexter's wonderful wardrobe. :)
