Last week I re-watching my Dexter DVDs when I noticed that even with the sometimes dark and violent nature of the character Dexter his wardrobe consists manly of the cooler colours - blues and greens to be specific. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but it's interesting none the less.

Below is a study of Dexter's wardrobe throughout the first season.

Have a look for yourself and see what you think.

The other day my sister and I were discussing TV shows, and more specifically cult TV shows. We found that our opinions on which shows we felt belonged in the cult category differed greatly.

This begs the question : What defines a cult TV show and how does a tv show attain this cult status?

We couldn't decide so we though we'd open it up to the internet and see if there was any general consensus on the topic. Mini survey under the cut to fill out if you think you can help us out. :)

Content Strike on LJ on Friday
ONE DAY CONTENT STRIKE

For one day, Friday, March 21, make no posts. Make no comments. Let there be NO new content added to LJ.

SUP obviously does not realize that Basic users have given something of value to them, that it is content that drives the site.

So, for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT, let's see how many people we can get to pledge to contribute NO CONTENT.

This will create a permanent downward spike in the daily-posts statistics, a permanent reminder of the power of the userbase.

Full information at The Fox's Den

SPREAD THE WORD!

'Nother movie meme doing the rounds.

Rules of the meme:
1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb, and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

It's Good News Week

Someone dropped a bomb somewhere
Contaminating atmosphere
And blackening the sky

It's good news week

Someone found a way to give
The rotting dead the will to live
Go on and never die

It's good news week
It's good news week

Meme stolen from [info]futuresoon:

a. post a list of 15-20 tv shows you love (current or cancelled)
b. have your friends list guess your favorite character from each show.
c. when guessed bold the line and write a little bit about why you like that character, or your favorite quote. (include a picture if you want!)

Alphabetical just for fun:

1) Arrested Development
2) Blackpool
3) Bones - Booth
If Bones is the new Moonlighting then Booth is the new David Addison. Cheeky, charming and with a heart of gold provides a perfect foil for the more logical and clinical Bones, and proves that UST can still be done right in the television of today.

4) Boston Legal
5) Buffy - Giles

6) Doctor Who - The Doctor

7) Firefly - Mal
Captain, my captain.

8) Heroes - Nathan Petrelli

9) House - House
He is the show. As a medical drama it's extremely formulaic but House character keeps it interesting through the good times and the bad. It also helps a great deal that he's played to perfection by Hugh Laurie who has forever been one of my favourite actors, right back to his early days of British comedy.

10) Life On Mars - Gene Hunt

11) Moonlighting
12) Red Dwarf - Rimmer
He's the one I always feel the most empathy for. The most interesting and complex character on the show thanks to a fully fleashed out background. Despite not being the main character Rimmer always seems to bring the most emotional depth to the show and most of my favourite episodes always seem to revolve around him (ie Thanks For The Memory, Terrorform, Me2, Quarantine) He just constantly fails at everything while trying so hard to be liked it's hard not to feel sorry for the guy.

13) Top Gear
14) Veronica Mars
15) Wonderfalls

Also after finally having seen Hogfather (and also a British telemovie called Reversals tonight) I can honestly say that Marc Warren is my new favourite British actor (and another reason to finish watching State Of Play :p ).

Sounds about right. I love Christmas and being around family but I can't really stand all that American 'White Christmas' sappyness that we get flooded with.

This movie is going to be totally sweet. Let's just hope they don't screw with the actual storyline too much. :)

Q: What goes cluck-cluck-peck, cluck-cluck-peck, cluck-cluck-BOOM?

A: A chicken in a minefield.  XD

Also hilarious is Shaun Micallef's new program on the SBS Newstopia. For anyone who missed it it's worth a look and will be up on the SBS website for the next week.

Haven't really been able to access the internet this past week so I've been getting a bit familiar with Photoshop instead.

Here are the fruits of my labour. (Some better than others)

Ane speaking of Blackpool, much excitment in the house last night when I saw a mini ad on one of our free-to-air networks for the US remake Viva Laughlin.

I can't see any future for the show, other than one where it crashes and burns a few weeks in, but I'll be watching it anyway as an avid fan of the original series.

Now I knew the network had bought the rights and figured they show it at some time due to the 'Hugh Jackman' factor but I never dreamed we'd be seeing it only a week or so after the US premier.

Too excited - actually moreso than being able to see new episodes of Heroes and House without having to wait until next February (more than likely because I knew we were guaranteed to see those ones). Now if only one of the networks would pick up Pushing Daisies I'd be more than over the moon. :D
